When we get rejected, or we fail, or things don’t go our way and we feel we are further on our goal, it is also the moment that we have greatest opportunity to reflect, to refuel, to re focus. If the the door doesn’t open, its not your door. Sometimes it takes a good fall to really know where you stand. Everytime we think we are being rejected from something good, remember, we are just being redirected to something better. Being Busy in Ministry
Do you have ministry in your church? Or maybe you are actively participating in your church? Volunteer, leader, usher, music, admin, pastoral, or maybe because of being so active, you wanted to join all those teams.
When you initially came to Christ, you were so on fire with the Lord. You diligently do the spiritual disciplines. But as you grow in your spiritual walk, you get tasked with more responsibilities. And with these responsibilities come the busyness. There is nothing wrong on being active in church. Getting busy in ministry, growing in ministry. It is a privilage to be part of it and serve. The question is, many christians now are actively involved in ministry but forgetting the reasons why their joined. It is becoming a daily routine of their lives. Go to the center every Sunday, ushered members, lead in worship, preached. There is nothing wrong with that but as you examined your self, are you growing? Are you growing as a christian or you are just growing in your ministry? Your prayer time, your devotion, your personal intimacy with God?
True intimacy with Christ involves suffering, obedience, much prayer, a good knowledge of God’s Word, and a life of faith.
Let us learn to prioritize our intimacy with God, rather than activities.

Deny Yourself
Mark 8-9
The words ‘deny yourself’ mean saying no to yourself. The Christian life involves the challenge of daily denial. The world thinks that the way to life is to deny yourself nothing. Jesus says that the opposite is true. The way to find life is to deny yourself, take up your cross and follow him.
You are called to love. You are to live for God and for other people. And as you give yourself away, God will take care of your life.
The teaching of Jesus is radical and revolutionary. It is exactly the opposite of what we would expect, yet we see how it works out in practice. Those who seek their own satisfaction end up disillusioned and dissatisfied having wasted their lives; those who follow Jesus’ teaching find life in all its fullness.
Lord, your words are so challenging. Help me each day to learn to deny myself in little things as well as big and to take up my cross and follow you. Thank you that as we give our lives to you, we find life in all its fullness.

Lord, thank you that you send me out to go and make disciples of all nations and you promise that the presence of Jesus will go with me as I do so.

Avoid Unnecessarily Quarreling
Proverbs 13:10-19
The writer of Proverbs contrasts the wise (‘wisdom is found in those who take advice’, v.10b) and fools (‘fools detest turning from evil’, v.19b). It is not surprising that we experience conflict. In particular, in this passage we see two examples:
Quarrels
‘Pride only breeds quarrels’ (v.10a). One of the most draining experiences of life is quarrelling – whether in a marriage, among friends, with colleagues or in the church. Here we see that one of the causes of quarrels can be pride. If you are willing to admit your mistakes and wrongs with humility, you can avoid a lot of quarrels.
Another key is listening carefully to one another: ‘Arrogant know-it-alls stir up discord, but wise men and women listen to each other’s counsel’ (v.10, MSG).
Disappointments
‘Hope deferred makes the heart sick’ (v.12a). Or as The Message puts it, ‘unrelenting disappointment leaves you heartsick’.
This is another kind of attack that is sickening. When a vision we have had for something is held up or our plans are delayed because of some attack or let down, disappointment makes the heart sick. We do battle with our own plans and our circumstances.
On the other hand, there is nothing more satisfying than persevering and seeing some part of your vision fulfilled. ‘A longing fulfilled is a tree of life’ (v.12a). ‘A longing fulfilled is sweet to the soul’ (v.19a).
In the midst of all the attacks of life there are moments of great joy, fulfilment and satisfaction.
Lord, in the midst of the challenges, help me to run the race with perseverance with my eyes fixed on Jesus (Hebrews 12:1–3).

Prayers XVII
Mat 26-27
There are many similarities between Judas and Peter. Both of them let them down Jesus. Yet there are also crucial differences between the two men. Peter responded to failure in the right way. Judas did not. As Paul writes, ‘Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death’ (2 Corinthians 7:10).
Let us respond as Peter did and we can have a great future ahead of us in the service of Jesus.
Lord, thank you that you were bound in order to liberate me from my sins, guilt, shame, addictions, fears and failures. When I fail, help me always to turn back to you in ‘godly sorrow… that leads to salvation and leaves no regret’.
